TISHK Strategic Policy Making

TISHK Strategic Policy Making encompasses various areas and groups, including the Strategic and Legal Policy Making RAVEJ Group, Integrated Natural Resource Management (INRM), etc.

Integrated Natural Resource Management (INRM)

The Integrated Natural Resource Management (INRM) research group, affiliated with the Tishk Studies Center, is dedicated to addressing the complex challenges of sustainable resource use within Iranian Kurdistan. Bringing together experts from diverse fields, our group focuses on holistic approaches to managing land, water, biodiversity, and other vital resources. By combining scientific research with local knowledge and community participation, we aim to develop practical solutions that support environmental health, social well-being, and economic development throughout the region.
Our mission is to advance sustainable and integrated management of natural resources in Iranian Kurdistan through interdisciplinary research, community engagement, and innovative solutions. We strive to empower local communities, inform policy, and foster environmental stewardship to benefit current and future generations.

Strategic and legal policy making

The Advisory Group constitutes an autonomous, pluralistic committee of academic legal scholars, international law experts and specialists who deal with strategically and legally relevant issues concerning the present and future of Eastern Kurdistan and Iran. The objective of this project is to illuminate issues of particular significance under international law by means of interdisciplinary analysis and expert reflection, necessitating in-depth investigation and consideration.
The establishment of this group is driven by the objective of situating political strategies within the framework of international law, particularly in relation to the Kurdish movement in Eastern Kurdistan and other ethnic groups in Iran. The primary aim is to establish a knowledge-based and scientifically robust foundation, with the objective of enhancing the clarity, consistency and efficacy of the political strategy and legal argumentation of the Kurds and other ethnic groups, including Baluchis, Turks and Arbere in Iran.

language policy strategies and language planning

The objective of this working group is to develop and promote a coherent language policy and language planning for Kurdish. The group’s objectives are to develop political recommendations for action in the field of language policy in the sectors of education, administration, media and beyond. These recommendations are to be based on research-based strategy consulting and international networking. The objective is to utilise language policy instruments to specifically address civil society actors, as well as key institutional and political decision-makers, and to involve them in processes of political change.
