Special SeminarThe TISHK Center for Kurdistan Studies is organising a Special Seminar entitled West Kurdistan (Rojava): Geography, Past, Present and Future.
Since the 2011 uprising against the Assad regime, Western Kurdistan (Rojava) has experienced numerous threats and crises. Today, after the fall of the regime, the region and its people face enormous local, regional and international challenges. This seminar aims to analyze the geopolitical situation of Western Kurdistan, its history, current developments and possible future perspectives. It offers an in-depth insight into the factors that could influence the fate of Kurds in this region.
About the lecturer::
Dr. Kamal Sido comes from Afrin in Western Kurdistan and received his doctorate in history and oriental studies in Russia in 1989. He has lived in Germany since the 1990s and is currently a consultant and head of the Middle East department of the Society for Threatened Peoples (GfbV). Dr. Sido has published numerous works on topics such as Kurdistan, Russia, ethnic minorities and social, political and historical issues. His publications have appeared in several languages, including Kurdish, Russian, German, Turkish and Arabic.
The seminar is aimed at scholars, students and those interested in Kurdish affairs, especially the complex challenges of Western Kurdistan.
The seminar West Kurdistan (Rojava): Geography, Past, Present and Future will be moderated and led by Mr. Ali Monazzami, the researcher and writer.
The seminar is scheduled for Sunday, 26 January 2025 at 18:00 (Berlin time) (8:00 pm, Afrin time) and will be held in Kurdish. Participants can join via Zoom using the link provided.
