TISHK Seminar SeriesA seminar on ‘Book Reading and Discussion: Good Morning Jina; A Critical View of the Jina Revolution'’
The TISHK Center for Kurdistan Studies is organising the fifth seminar entitled Book Reading and Discussion: Good Morning Jina; A Critical View of the Jina Revolution.
This seminar will take place in Cologne, Germany, and is dedicated to the author and researcher, Ebrahim Farshy, for his profound insights into the Jina Revolution.
The book Good Morning Jina is part of the TISHK Book Series and offers an in-depth exploration of the events surrounding the Jina Revolution. Written during the Kurdish uprisings of 2022–2023, it critically examines the socio-political dynamics and the role of the revolutionary slogan "Woman, Life, Freedom" in shaping the resistance across Kurdistan and Iran. The book starts with the tragic state-sanctioned killing of Jina Amini on 16 September 2022 in Saqqez and the subsequent uprisings that unfolded across Kurdistan. Farshy provides a detailed critique of the strengths and weaknesses of the protests, the responses of political parties, and the broader Iranian geopolitical landscape. He also contextualizes these events within the long history of Kurdish liberation movements.
The seminar will be led by Aram Keykhosrawi, M.A. graduate in Political Science from Kharezmi University in Tehran, who will facilitate the discussion and critical analysis of the book.
Scheduled for Sunday, December 21, 2024, at 3 PM (Berlin time), the seminar will be conducted in Kurdish. The session includes a 10-minute introduction, a 30-minute presentation, a 25-minute Q&A session, and a 10-minute panel discussion and conclusion.
